Start-up kdrama, is it worth watching?
Drama released in 2020, It'll not be a story full of romcom and too many love scenes. Because if you're looking for something that will have rom com and too much love shots, then this drama isn't for you although you can watch it as there are few moments that will tickle you with their romcom and love scenes.
This is what I love about kdrama, when they say it's START-UP then it'll be about start up and whole story will be around it unlike other show where name don't match with the story they show.
So, what this drama is all about? And why you should watch it.
You see, I've watched many kdrama and sometimes I find it pretty repetitive when there are no stories and just romcom comedy with same plots and twist that you can predict. Like: there is car accident which is inevitable, childhood trauma (this drama has some too but what make it different from them, is it doesn't revolve around it), love triangles which and heart break of 2nd lead although this drama has some love triangle too and I'll tell you later why it is different and what I loved in this drama.
I've noticed one thing that Nam Ju Hyun always choose some best drama to work in, I mean I always enjoyed watching his drama. Last year I finished watching 2521 and I'm still not over of it because of its ending but you know that drama actually show the reality that this is the reality, you don't always get what you want in life.
Nam Ju Hyun, each of his drama is different from others and stories are unique too.
What makes this drama special is that it has Bae Suzy and Nam Ju Hyuk working as lead. Their acting and the emotion they convey is top notch, you will feel relatable and they will keep you holding. You'll feel like it's your story and you're struggling with them too.
You know in many kdramas the stories feel stuck like their stories are too slow and you see no progress or changes in their characters and that's why it feel boring sometimes.
In this drama you'll get to see Bae Suzy playing role of simple girl living with her grand mother her name is Seo Dal Mi. Some incidents happen with her and her grandmother was worried that her grand daughter is feeling devasted and sad, so she asked a boy Han Ji Pyeong to write some letters for her and he started writing letter but not as Ji Pyeong but in the name of another boy name Nam Do San.
Story takes turn and they grow, Seo Dal Mi is working in a job now and is very hard working too and Han ji Pyeong played by Kim Seon Ho (he worked in when life gives you tangerine too), he is rich manager in a tech company.
Seo Dal Mi want to become an entrepreneur now and want to fulfill his father dream, so she give her name in Sand Box an organization that give opportunities to Start Ups later she found out that her sister is also joining in it, her sister Won In Jae give her challenge. Her sister Won In Jae who lives with her mother get divorced with her husband and Seo Dal Mi lived with her father who died later in an accident.
Later, Han Ji Pyeong who was always in touch with Seo Dal Mi grandmother, get to know that Seo Dal Mi is participating in Sand Box where he is manager and later he found Nam Do San to join with her, who was coder and had an agency was looking for an investor who could invest in his company but Han Ji Pyeong denied to do so and told him how he used his name to write letter to Dal Mi and ask him to play that role so he could get opportunity too. He accepted it and Dal Mi got to meet Do San in the event, they decided to work together to start their company and she will be their CEO.
Their story take many twist and turn, both of them and their team faced challenges and overcome it together. Finally, they got to beat their sister's company and got the investor contract who was from USA but later got to know that it was not an investment but a prize that they won and that company isn't working with them but hiring them to work under them, so CEO Dal Mi and the designer Sa Ha has to leave the team and only coders will go to the USA.
Dal Mi and Do San got break up, so Do San can follow his dream. After 3 years they returned and resign from that US company so they can start their company again with new start up and strategy.
Dal Mi was working with her sisters company and there she was CEO. Her sister who has changed now, they're both working to grow their company. Later, Won In Jae ask Dal Mi to bring Do San and his friend to work in her company.
The story has too much positive changes, love with career growth how they face changes but still manage to come together to work and grow, Dal Mi got to know that Do San didn't wrote the letters and Han Ji Pyeong started liking her too but he was matured with his emotions so he let her go and you won't see here unnecessary fight over a girl instead it'll be mostly on their business.
Dal Mi's grandmother, you'll like her character too and feel connected with them. In the end the family reunited and the ending was too good. Although I wish that what if Won In Jae and Han Ji Pyeong could be together as both of them are emotional matured and always think rationally, both are strong and neve give up, started their journey from 0. But, you know it doesn't have to be love stories always.
It's a sweet story without extra drama like focusing only on romcom or couples, the main focus was on their lives and how they deal it, there are enough Dalmi and Dosan moments which will make you cry, laugh and tickle too.
I'd love to watch it again because there are no 2nd lead heartbreak, they moved everyone is happy and Dalmi's sister finally made huge name and started her company with Dalmi and Dosan help, and the whole family united, their mother started staying with her mother in law and shared some sweet moments.
The good thing about this drama is they didn't take whole 14 episodes to solve family drama and end the story quickly like not enough scene where whole family are enjoying and having good moments, instead their focus was building Dalmi's sister's startup company a big hit which they did.
The pair Nam Ju Hyuk and Bae Suzy was so eye soothing for me, I mean I loved to watch them together but kinda feel sad for Kim Seon Ho but I didn't actually talked enough about him in this article. What I like about the character he played Han Ji Pyeong is, a very strong character, sensible, talked and think rationally not very emotional and he has always helped Dalmi and Dosan, guide them and lastly when he got to know that he like Dalmi but not as much as Dosan, he let them be together. That's why his character is best, he cared for Dalmis' grandmother so much and shared a very special bond with her and she liked him too.
Now, I shouldn't share everything here because I don't want to be spoiler, although I've told a lot about the drama which can give you idea about this drama but there are many many things that you'll find intresting and will love too.
